About the film: Crooklyn is a semi-autobiographical film directed by Spike Lee. Set in the vibrant neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, during the summer of 1973, the movie follows young Troy Carmichael as she navigates life with her lively family. Through the lens of Troy’s experiences, viewers are immersed in the rich culture and music of the 1960s and 1970s.

With a soundtrack featuring iconic hits from the era, Crooklyn captures the essence of the time while delivering a heartfelt and relatable story. From Troy’s rowdy brothers to her loving yet strict parents, the film portrays the ups and downs of family life with authenticity and humor.

As one of Spike Lee’s early works, Crooklyn showcases his unique storytelling style and his ability to capture the essence of New York City.
