On a summer weekend in 1963, four girlfriends made memories that would last a lifetime.
Join us for the official Femme Film Fest 2026 Kick Off Reception, a beach-themed celebration to launch this year’s festival in style. Come ready to groove the night away and celebrate SC’s official State Dance with Richard Durlach and Breedlove, beloved local dance historians and teachers. They’ll offer free Shag dance lessons in Theater 1 during the reception from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. to anyone who wants to sharpen their skills. Then, they’ll join us to perform a live Shag dance demo during our 7:30pm screening of Shag (individual tickets or passes required).
Enjoy light bites from Abundant Graze, sip on a specialty drink, and catch live Shag dance demos to get you in the coastal spirit. The reception is free and open to all, so come mix, mingle, and celebrate the start of Femme Fest.
Beach vibes encouraged! Break out your nautical stripes, breezy linens, sundresses, boat shoes, tropical prints, and coastal-inspired party looks. Think seaside soirée — dressed for a stylish night by the (indoor) shore.
