Marty Supreme is a high-energy sports comedy-drama adventure from director Josh Safdie, inspired by the larger-than-life legend of table tennis icon Marty Reisman. Set in the pulse of 1950s New York City, the film follows rising ping-pong prodigy Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet) as he battles ambition, ego, and personal demons on his volatile climb toward greatness. Alongside an eclectic ensemble—including Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher—the film blends Safdie’s signature grit with a stylish, noir-tinged take on underground sports culture.

The film premiered as a secret screening in the Main Slate of the 2025 New York Film Festival, debuting to major industry attention as Safdie’s first solo feature since The Pleasure of Being Robbed. Marty Supreme features cinematography by Oscar nominee Darius Khondji, immersive stunt and ping-pong work from Chalamet, and production design by Jack Fisk.
