Hamnet, directed and co-written by Academy Award–winner Chloé Zhao, is a stirring historical drama adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed novel. Starring Jessie Buckley in a career-defining performance alongside Paul Mescal, the film explores the intimate relationship between William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes, and the shattering grief they face after the loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet—a tragedy that reverberates through Shakespeare’s greatest works.

Premiering at the 52nd Telluride Film Festival before screening at TIFF, where it won the prestigious People’s Choice Award, Hamnet has been hailed as one of the year’s most powerful films. Critics praise Zhao’s tender direction and Buckley’s revelatory performance, with Rolling Stone declaring it a turn “people will be talking about for years.”

NOTE: The 12/16 screening at 7:00pm will be followed by an open book club discussion with Queer Haven Books.
