No Other Choice is Park Chan-wook’s razor-sharp satirical black comedy thriller, adapted from Donald Westlake’s The Ax and brought to life by an all-star cast including Lee Byung-hun, Son Ye-jin, Park Hee-soon, Lee Sung-min, Yeom Hye-ran, and Cha Seung-won. Blending Park’s signature precision with biting social critique, the film follows Man-su, a once-stable expert in the paper industry who spirals into murderous desperation as he eliminates his job competitors one by one in a last-ditch effort to save his family and maintain his way of life.

The film premiered in the main competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, where it earned a nine-minute standing ovation and immediate critical acclaim.

Lee Byung-hun received a Special Tribute Award at the Toronto International Film Festival for his performance, which has been widely celebrated as one of his finest. The film also earned multiple Golden Globe nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Lee Byung-hun). It was selected as South Korea’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards’ Best International Feature Film category.
