When Sides Collide – Come Around My Way

May 19, 2014

Come Around My Way: A Youth Media Project is our flagship after-school youth media program. Launched as a partnership with C.A. Johnson High School and Richland Library Teen Center in the fall of 2013, the program works with students on the production of short documentary films exploring the historical and contemporary issues facing their neighborhoods.

Adrian (Freddy) & Hesakahi (Z) (A&H Productions) created this documentary about two teenage friends that are very much alike and how their communities created differences between them. By looking at their upbringing from elementary school to now, this film let’s us see just how their environments influenced who they’ve become. By examining the differences that make Freddy and Z alike, this film shows us who the two boys really are and the psychological impact their community has had on their lives.
