Beneath The Surface – Come Around My Way

May 19, 2014

Come Around My Way: A Youth Media Project is our flagship after-school youth media program. Launched as a partnership with C.A. Johnson High School and Richland Library Teen Center in the fall of 2013, the program works with students on the production of short documentary films exploring the historical and contemporary issues facing their neighborhoods.

Tyeyana & Ny’keshia (Dusk to Dawn Productions) created a documentary about two best friends that grew up fast, took on the roles of their absent fathers, helped raise their siblings, and moved to new states. In the film we discover that they have encountered many obstacles and overcome plenty of trials and tribulations. The journey from one state to another and being forced to make decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives resonate in this powerful film.
