Following the screening, Dr. Elizabeth Klimek, SCSM Planetarium Manager, and Andrew Sevrinsky, SCSM Astronomy Educator, will lead a discussion about inspiration and innovation in astronomy education. The discussion will also be featuring:

About the screening: When it was first aired by PBS in 1980, Astronomer Carl Sagan’s 13-part series, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, was the most watched series in the history of public television. It was a landmark moment for television and science education, introducing a multi-generational audience to Carl Sagan and his mission to make astronomy accessible to a general audience. From the special effects (state-of-the-art for its time) to its soundtrack, Cosmos created new pathways to learning.
