Program Description

Looking for something fun and creative for the kids to do this Summer and during Spring Break? If you have an aspiring auteur in your family, Indie Grits Labs’ Film and Media Camp programs could be for you! Our day camps teach students the basic techniques of video production through producing narrative shorts & stop motion animation films & short docs to be screened at the Nick at the conclusion of the camp!

Stop-Motion Animation Camp


When: Monday – Friday, June 11-22, 9:00am-1:00pm
Where: Indie Grits Labs / 1013 Duke Ave.
Instructor: Lillian Burke
Cost: $400 per student

Experience a hands-on introduction to the art of stop-motion animation! Covering the fundamentals of animation, storytelling, and production, students will get to plan and execute the production of their very own animation, walking away with a movie they can treasure and share with friends and family! From making characters to foley work, this camp, led by experienced animator Lillian Burke, will serve as a perfect introduction to the world of filmmaking. The special screening of the work from this camp will be Saturday, June 23rd from 12-1:30pm at the Nickelodeon Theatre. For ages 8-12.

Sci-Fi Horror Camp

Cost: $400 per student

Science fiction and big time scares are a hallmark of the American cinema landscape. Artificial intelligence out of control? Gadgets with world-altering implications? In space, can no one really hear you scream? Join us for a two-week crash course in filmmaking fun, culminating in the production of a film that will be screened at the Nickelodeon theatre. Your imagination is the only limit! The special screening of the work from this camp will be Saturday, July 7th from 12-1:30pm at the Nickelodeon Theatre. For high school students.

Camp Notes:
Children are to be dropped off at the respective location at 9 AM. You will have to sign in. Pick up is at 1 PM, and whoever is picking up a student needs to come inside and sign their kid out.
There will not be a designated lunch, so your student is welcome to bring lunch, but we will be providing ample snacks, including fruits, vegetables, grains, and sweets.
