Hi My name is Jessica Nicolette Gaitor,

I am from Augusta, GA, James Brown Town, and am currently a graduating senior at Benedict College majoring in Mass Communication/Broadcasting. I want to be a filmmaker someday and I work everyday towards that. Living in Columbia for school was a great decision for me towards my goal because filmmaking is actually pretty important here!

I come from a big family who are Bahamian and teachers, but they are the reason I love movies so much. They also inspired me to go to an HBCU which taught me to take very little resources and make something great out of it! My other inspirations are John Singleton,  Wes Anderson, Marvin Van Peebles, Spike Lee and Ang Lee! (not for the Hulk though!!!)

My short term goals are to make another film festival and to make better films. Working at the Nickelodeon and teaching high school students has already helped me tremendously as a filmmaker! My long term goal is only one thing, to be the first Black woman to win an Academy Award for Best Director or Best Film, or both at once!!!!!!
