This program features a special introduction by Nathaniel Naomi Simmons-Thorne and Mahkia Greene, OUT Here committee members, and features a spoken word performance by Monifa Lemons (Poet and Co-Founder of The Watering Hole) and Tanisha Hall (Poet and Spoken Word Artist, Graduate Fellow of The Watering Hole).

Before Mudbound, Oscar-nominee Dee Rees directed this tender coming of age story of a Black, lesbian poet. Set during 17-year old Alike’s final year of high school, the film is a beautifully rendered account of creative ambition, romantic desire, and the struggle to express the contents of one’s heart.

Directed by Dee Rees.
