2018 Oscar shortlist Félicité “expresses the moods of life with a magnetic, potent grace.” Set in the city of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, French Senegalese director Alain Gomis’ Félicité is a documentary-style portrait of a singer struggling to care for her son after he is in an accident. Anchored by passionate musical performances and set to a striking soundtrack, Félicité  is an exceptional tale of a woman’s strength and commitment in the face of hardship.
