Are films more than just entertainment?
What is “political” about film? What are the political ideas within films?What images do films provide of government, political action, economics, class, gender, and race and ethnicity?
In this course you will…
- Explore how political criticism increases our understanding of the role of film in reflecting and shaping our collective political reality
- Watch and critique four films (two Hollywood, two independent)
- Focus on understanding the political ideology implicit in all films, not just films about politics
