ACM and NAMAC’s State & Main Conference

Our Executive Director Andy Smith and Director of Media Education Sherard Duvall are headed to Philadelphia, PA next week to participate in ACM & NAMAC’s State & Main National Conference. The National Alliance for Media Arts & Culture and The Alliance for Community Media were each founded over 30 years ago by independent media producers and organizations who believed that together they represented a stronger social and cultural force than alone. From this shared founding impulse, they followed different but interrelated branches: NAMAC embraced media primarily as an art form and ACM as a tool for strengthening communities.

As a member of NAMAC the Nickelodeon Theatre is proud to have two of our own not only attend this first ever conference, but also to participate! Andy will be a guest panelists on Friday’s “Nonprofit Boards” panel and Sherard will be moderating the “Tracking Alumni in Youth Media Organizations” panel. We are very proud to be a part of the national conversation about media and it’s purpose in the community and are excited about our own representing the Nickelodeon on a national platform!
